Cancellation and refund policy
Every listing on Simplicity Events carries one of three cancellation tiers, set by the vendor from a fixed set we define. Vendors cannot write their own terms, so whatever you book, the rules below are the rules that apply.
The three tiers
Notice is counted in whole days between the moment you cancel and the start of the event. Part days round down, so 29 days and 23 hours of notice counts as 29 days.
| If you cancel | You get back |
|---|---|
| 30 days or more before | Full refund |
| 14 to 29 days before | Full refund |
| Less than 14 days before | 50% refund |
The most forgiving tier. Suits vendors whose costs are mostly their own time, and who can refill a date at short notice.
| If you cancel | You get back |
|---|---|
| 30 days or more before | Full refund |
| 14 to 29 days before | 50% refund |
| Less than 14 days before | No refund |
The middle ground, and the most common choice. Full refund with a month of notice, half with a fortnight.

| 14 to 29 days before | No refund |
| Less than 14 days before | No refund |
For vendors who commit money up front — deposits on venues, hired equipment, bought-in stock — and cannot recover it if you cancel late.
Your terms are fixed when you pay
The tier in force for your booking is recorded on your order at the moment you pay, and that record is what any later refund is calculated from. If a vendor changes the tier on their listing afterwards, or if we revise the tiers on this page, your booking keeps the terms you agreed to. Nothing here applies retrospectively to a booking already made.
You can see the exact terms attached to any booking on the order itself, in your account.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the card or payment method you originally paid with. We cannot send them anywhere else. Once we release a refund, your bank typically takes a further five to ten working days to show it, which is outside our control.
Where a refund is partial, the percentage above is applied to what you actually paid, including the platform fee.
If the vendor cancels, or something goes wrong
The tiers above govern cancellations by you. If a vendor cancels on you, you are refunded in full regardless of tier and regardless of notice. If a vendor does not deliver what was booked, raise it with us before the funds are released to them and we will look at it.
Vendor funds are held for a period after the event date precisely so that there is something to refund from when a dispute is raised in good time.
